DavTravels: Season 2, Episode 6

I thought I had uploaded all of my videos of my trip to Peru- come to find out, I hadn’t. I apologize for the wait! Here is season 2, episode 6! I will post the rest over the weekend, which will be the rest of season 2. And the good news is the fact that season 3 is already in the works!

Are you familiar with the “What3Words” app? If you aren’t, I highly recommend you check it out! This makes it so much easier to share or find an exact location!

Here is an example: Let’s say you are just getting out of a concert at a huge venue, and you’re waiting for a friend to come to pick you up. Due to the size of the place, and the large crowd, it could be challenging for your friend to find you. Typically, you could look for a landmark or feature that they could drive around and find you waiting next to, but that, too, can be difficult.

With What3Words, you would open the app, allow it to find your exact GPS location, and give your friend the three words that the app has designated for that location.

Sometimes street addresses can be confusing because different cities have different rules regarding their numbering system, or some houses and buildings don’t have their address visible. This wouldn’t be a problem if you knew the location using the What3Words app.

Probably the most important example that I can think of: What if you need emergency services, such as an ambulance, police, or rescue team, to get to your exact location fast? You could give them the three words associated with your precise spot on the globe. That is if they have adopted using What3Words.

Do me a favor- visit http://What3Words.com (they explain it better than I ever could).

I want to use the app in my blog and vlog so that readers can find or go to the exact places I travel. These will be with a triple backslash followed by three words, separated by a dot. For example- if I were to pinpoint the exact location of Four Corners USA, it would look like this: ///gearbox.awaits.flamingo.

Check it out when you have a sec.

1955- The Number One Grossing Film: Lady and the Tramp

I hadn’t seen this movie in so many years! The only thing I remembered about Lady and the Tramp was the scene in which the two dogs are eating spaghetti and meatballs in the alleyway outside the restaurant. This was good therapy for me! I miss the innocence of a Disney cartoon.

It’s time for the rating. As you recall, the options are “Loved it!”, “Liked it”, “meh”, and “Hated it!”

1954- The Number One Grossing Film: Rear Window

I haven’t yet written about this- but I’m sad to announce that my dear friend Pip passed away last month. It has been tough without him, but I have felt an outpouring of love from all his friends! I’m so glad that many of his friends are now my friends.

Tonight I’m finally in a movie-watching mood. This used to happen much more often, but I haven’t been in the right frame of mind since Pip’s passing. This is something that we wanted to do together. I have decided to pick up right where we left off: 1954.

Having just watched it, it’s time to give it a rank. The options are- “loved it”, “liked it”, “meh”, and “hated it”.

This could fall under the “midlife crisis” category.

You’re most likely sitting at home, scratching your head and wondering when episode 2 of season 2 is coming out. Here’s the deal- I haven’t been traveling a lot lately. I’m still a flight attendant, but life sometimes takes a turn, and at this time, I need to stay on the ground.

I do miss the travel, but I am enjoying a slower pace. With less travel, I have decided to focus on another bucket list item. Today, this dream has finally come true!

If I hadn’t been planning this purchase for quite some time, you’d be allowed to assume that this is a desperate cry for attention. The fact of the matter is this: Anything that I purchase that is of a ‘fun’ and/or ‘shiny’ nature, at my current age, is going to be met with an eye roll and unfair judgment.

It’s not like I’ve purchased a little sports car or traded in a wife for a newer, younger model (as if). I’ve met guys who have spent outrageous amounts of money on hair plugs, jewelry, or even lotions that are supposed to make them look younger. Not me!

Anyway- here is, without a doubt, my latest cry for attention.
